Emily Lloyd was born Emily Lloyd Pack on the 29th of September 1970 in London. Her father was the stage actor Roger Lloyd Pack, her mother Sheila was an agent and her grandfather Charles Lloyd Pack was also an actor. Emily Lloyd and her sister were raised by their mother when their parents divorced.

Even as a teenager Emily Lloyd was already serious about acting. At the age of fifteen she attended the Italia Conti School. Form the famed school she was spotted by director David Leland. He offered her a role in the move Wish You Were Here. Emily Lloyd was given the lead role in the film based on the memoirs of Cynthia Payne, one of British’s madams. In the movie Emily’s sister was given the chance to play a minor role.

The film was a big hit and Emily Lloyd found herself in the limelight. The film was nominated at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival. As for Emily Lloyd, she was given the Evening Standard Award, was nominated at the BAFTA and was won the Award of the National Society of Film Critics for 1987.

The following year, Emily Lloyd was seen in Susan Seidelman’s Cookie. She played the daughter of mafia don played by Peter Flack. Her other co-stars were Jerry Lewis and Dianne Weist. That same year, she also appeared in the Norman Jewison flick In Country, an adaptation if the novel by Bobbie Ann Mason.
